Customer Advisory: Indian Customs Awards AEO Status to APL Logistics India

APL Logistics India Pvt Ltd was awarded the AEO (Authorized Economic Operator) certification under the AEO-LO category by Indian Customs on May 8, 2024. Achieving this AEO status is a significant milestone for the company, as it reflects a high level of compliance with international supply chain security standards.

The AEO program is part of the World Customs Organization’s (WCO) SAFE Framework of Standards, which aims to secure and facilitate global trade. AEO status designates a company as a key player in the international movement of goods, recognized for its compliance with customs and supply chain security standards set by the WCO. Entities with AEO status are considered secure and reliable trading partners, enjoying privileges such as expedited processing of shipments, reduced customs inspections, and priority clearance.

In India, the AEO program aligns with these global standards to facilitate trade, enhance security, and ensure efficient cargo clearance. This, in turn, contributes to a smoother overall supply chain for international trade.

Examples of the benefits of AEO LO status include:

• Recognized worldwide as safe, secure, and compliant business partners in international trade. Received trade facilitation by a foreign Customs administration with whom India enters a Mutual Recognition Agreement / Arrangement
• Facility of waiver of bank guarantee in case of trans-shipment of goods under Goods Imported (Conditions of trans-shipment) Regulations, 1995
• Facility of exemption from the permission on case-to-case basis in case of transit of goods: In case of international transshipped cargo (Foreign to Foreign), for the pre-sorted containers wherein cargo does not require segregation, ramp to ramp or tail to tail transfer of cargo can be effected without customs escorts.
• Facility of execution of running bond.
