Customer Advisory: Introduction of Emergency Fuel Surcharge (EFS)
March 24, 2026
APL Logistics would like to inform you of an upcoming change to our transportation and trucking services, specifically relating to fuel cost adjustments.
Background
Ongoing geopolitical developments in the Middle East have led to heightened volatility in global fuel prices. As fuel represents a significant cost component in inland transportation and trucking operations, these fluctuations have resulted in increased operational costs across the region.
To ensure continuity of service and maintain consistent service levels for our customers, APL Logistics will be introducing an Emergency Fuel Surcharge (EFS).
Emergency Fuel Surcharge (EFS)
- The EFS is a temporary surcharge implemented to address the current volatility in fuel prices.
- The surcharge will be reviewed regularly and adjusted in line with prevailing fuel market conditions.
- This measure enables APL Logistics to continue providing reliable and uninterrupted services during this period of uncertainty.
Scope of Application
- The EFS will apply to transportation and trucking services, including CFS-to-port and inland movements, where applicable.
- Surcharge levels will vary by country, reflecting differences in local fuel indices and cost structures.
- Country-specific details, including effective dates and surcharge amounts, will be communicated separately via local advisories from your APL Logistics account team.
Billing Transparency
To ensure clarity and transparency in invoicing:
- The EFS will be charged separately from base transportation rates.
- It will appear as a distinct line item on customer invoices.
Our Commitment
APL Logistics remains committed to supporting your supply chain requirements and minimizing operational disruptions. We continue to monitor fuel market developments closely and will provide updates should there be any material changes.
Should you require further clarification or assistance, please contact your APL Logistics Account Manager or Customer Service team.
Thank you for your continued understanding and partnership.
