Customer Advisory: Mexico Security Situation – Potential Logistics Impacts
February 24, 2026
Recent security unrest in parts of Mexico has been associated with transportation interruptions, including road blockades and localized service disruption. Customers with cargo moving within Mexico, or to/from Mexico, specifically around Guadalajara, may experience delays and capacity constraints depending on routing and origin/destination.
Operational and Transportation Impacts
The following impacts have been reported and may vary by lane, timing, and local conditions:
Road Transportation / Inland Movement:
Many domestic trucking providers have suspended or limited operations in affected areas, resulting in delays and disruption to pickup and delivery services. The area is seeing localized capacity tightening and extended transit times as carriers reroute or stage equipment outside impacted regions.
Air Freight:
Reports indicate operational constraints at Guadalajara International Airport (GDL) due to access limitations and flight cancellations, while Mexico City (MEX), Felipe Ángeles (NLU), and Monterrey (MTY) were operating normally at the time of reporting.
Ocean / Port Connectivity:
As of February 24, 2026, operations at the Port of Manzanillo in Mexico are undergoing a tense, gradual resumption following a temporary suspension caused by severe cartel violence and blockades in the region. While the Mexican Navy has declared the port open, significant logistical disruptions, including slower-than-normal trucking operations and elevated security risks, persist.
U.S.–Mexico Cross‑Border Movements:
No material disruption at major border crossings at the time of reporting; however, shipments originating from or destined to Jalisco and neighboring states may experience delays due to inland transportation limitations.
Customer Considerations
Customers may wish to consider the following risk‑mitigation actions:
- Allow for additional transit time for freight moving within or through western Mexico
- Review routing and scheduling for time‑sensitive shipments and consider alternate lanes where feasible
- Maintain close coordination with logistics partners regarding in‑transit visibility and exception management as conditions evolve
Our Support
We are monitoring verified updates and partner communications regarding operational conditions in Mexico. Additional updates will be provided as warranted based on material changes impacting service.
Sincerely,
APL Logistics
